Born on October 15, 1957, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Carlton Kerr and the late Polly Kerr. In addition to his biological parents, he was also preceded in death by the sweetest mother-in-law, Etheleen Jordan Wilson.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Army and National Infantry Guard. He worked for and retired from Mail America in Lynchburg. He loved hunting and fishing and was known as “The Legendary Turkey Man”. As a loving husband, father, and Christian man, he loved God, his wife, and the best daughter. His family and friends were the loves of his life. He was a member of Dan Mountain Hunt Club and Campbell County Militia as well as American Legion Post 16 for over 28 years and 1727 Moose Lodge since 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathy W. Kerr; daughter, Jessica Kerr, brother, W.C. Kerr and his wife Juliet, sisters Pam (PJ) Viar (Hurt) and Vickie Pedro and husband Mike; step-mother, Dorothy Barker, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel officiated by Pastor J. Mike Dodson. Interment will immediately follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
