

Born in Lynchburg, November 10, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Thomas Padgett and Eddie Ester Wilkes. She was a longtime member of Park View United Methodist Church. Her joy in life was helping others, she joined the Lynchburg General Hospital Pink Lady’s in February 1961 and served for over 17,861 hours during the 40+ years she volunteered.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Clifford Garner; two brothers, Bowyer Padgett and O.L. “Toad” Padgett.
She is survived by two sisters, Thelma Bell and Frances Gardner (Jack) all of Lynchburg, a number of nieces and nephews and her “special boys” Lindsey and Nathan Hall.
Her niece, Connie Hall, and the family would like to acknowledge the special care provided by her caregivers, Theresa Greer, Nicole Rosser, Donna Staton, Pat Coleman, Janet Compton, Kim Thompson, Nicole Wood and the staff of Centra Hospice.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Russell Cheatham officiating. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service.
