

Dudley Jake Lawhorn, 90, of Rustburg, died, Friday, May 20, 2011, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Estelle Lloyd Lawhorn. He was born March 25, 1921, in Lynchburg, to the late Robert Pompi Lawhorn and Mettie E. Johns Lawhorn.
Mr. Lawhorn was a retired truck driver for Hennis Freightline and the owner/operator of Duds Used Parts. He was also a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawhorn is preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Anne Lawhorn; one son, Dennis Stanley Lawhorn; and one brother, Calvin Lawhorn.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Lawhorn is survived by two sons, Dudley Herman Lawhorn and his wife Norma of Rustburg and Robert Wayne Lawhorn, Sr. and his wife Margaret also of Rustburg; two sisters, Anne Crishaw of Orange Springs, FL and Margaret Hudson of Rustburg; two brothers, Lester Lawhorn of Appomattox and Ben Lawhorn and his wife Lois of Madison Heights; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Charles Foshee officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park, where the American Legion Post 16 will present military honors.
The family will receive friends 3-5 pm., Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
