

Fred Hadley Brown, Sr., 86, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Christine Jefferson Brown for almost sixty-four years.
Born February 17, 1924 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Fate and Mary Maddox Brown and was also preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Brown. Fred retired from Valley Rich Dairy after thirty-seven years of service and Brinks after seventeen years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
Fred was a U.V.A. sports fan, NASCAR fan, and especially enjoyed baseball and football. For many years, he coached little league football and baseball. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke with everyone. He was well loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Brown and son, Fred H. Brown, Jr. and wife, Deborah, both of Lynchburg; two granddaughters, Heather Martin and husband, Tim and Lauren Brown; one great-grandson, Caden Martin; one great-granddaughter, Christian Grider-Martin and two nieces, Betsy Brower and Becky Young and husband, Bill.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2010 at Fairview Christian Church with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton, the Rev. Gary Vernon, and the Rev. Jean Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence.
