Gary Frederick Brooks

Born on October 27, 1938 in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, Canada, he was the son of the late John Constant Brooks and Lucienne Desnoyers Brooks.

Gary was raised on a farm in the southern parts of Saskatchewan. He served his country in the Canadian Air Force and was a decorated Top Gun Pilot while serving with NATO forces. Gary was a resident of Sparta, NJ for many years where he raised his family. He was a retired Captain with American Airlines and regional director of Tri State Area Ski Patrol. Gary lived life to the fullest with passion and integrity at all times.

In addition to his parent, he is preceded in death by a sister, June B. Doyle, two siblings who died as infants, and wife and mother of his children, Gisela Nitschmann Brooks.

Gary is survived by his children, Roy Brooks of Newton, NJ, Carol Wilmouth of Forest; and Angela Timmons and husband Richard of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.; four grandchildren, James Wilmouth, Thomas Wilmouth, Leah Timmons, and Lauren Timmons; siblings, Roy Brooks and wife Linda, Donald Brooks, and Diane B. Mateush and husband Ed, all of Canada.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel in the visitation room, with Celebrant Polly Starnes officiating. Light refreshments and a time of visitation will follow the service.
