

Born in London, England, December 18, 1929 he was a son of the late George Albert Sandrof and Sarah Hooper Sandrof. He was a veteran of the British Royal Air Force and a 1952 member of the British Olympic Cyclist team. George moved to the United States in 1966 and eventually settled in the Lynchburg area. He was a retired partner of Sandrof Auto Body. He had been a longtime member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and was a Charter member of Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.
He is survived by four children, Lesley Sandrof England and her husband Scott of Madison Heights, Nick P. Sandrof and his wife Tammy and Gena Sandrof Sellers and her husband Jeff all of Rustburg and Matt G. Sandrof of Leesburg; one brother, Frank Sandrof of Glamorgan, Wales; one sister, Jean S. Leeson and husband Gerry of Westchester, OH; 12 grandchildren, Tiffany England, Kimberly E. Summers and husband Dan, Cassidy E. VandeStreek and husband Tim, Jason Sandrof and wife Amy, Jillian S. Maloney and husband Paul, Kristen S. Webber and husband Lawrence, Heather N. Sellers and her fiance Martin Begley, Elizabeth Sellers, Mykala Sellers, Thomas Sandrof, Jack Sandrof and Christian Sandrof; eight great-grandchildren, Kohen Summers, Liam VandeStreek, Declan Maloney, Maggie Maloney, Ellie Sandrof, Averie Sandrof, Micah Sandrof and Grayson Sellers; one brother-in-law, Brian Sandilands and one sister-in-law, Carole Slemmonds.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Grooms officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 in the Pate Chapel of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
