

George Emory Tyree, 77, of Lynchburg, died, Thursday, December 1, 2011, at his residence. He was the husband of 49 years to the late Mildred Lloyd Tyree. Born July 9, 1934, in Abert, he was the son of the late Moses Odell Tyree and the late Lottie Mae Wade Tyree.
Mr. Tyree was a retired inspector for Griffin Pipe and Foundry Company and a member of Greenview Church of God. Mr. Tyree also served our country in the US Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Tyree is preceded in death by one daughter, Sheryl Darlene Tyree; three sisters, Violet Hayden, Mae Stinnett and Ellie Osborne; and one brother, Odell Tyree.
Mr. Tyree is survived by his daughter, Tammy T. Clark and her husband Doug of Lynchburg; one brother Moe Tyree and his wife Juanita; one sister Shirley T. Litchford, also of Lynchburg; two sisters-in-law, Doris Lloyd of Amherst and Edith Tyree of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Corbin Douglas Clark, Stephen Brice Clark and Shanna Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2011, at Fort Hill Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Tammy Clark and Pastor Kristy May. The American Legion Post 16 will also present Military Honors.
The family will receive friends, 3-5 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Centra Hospice for their loving care towards Mr. Tyree.
