

Today God called home one of His faithful servants. Harold C. Webb of Forest, Virginia and formerly of Beckley, West Virginia, beloved husband of Gloria Terry Webb and father of daughter, Terri A. Webb and son, Mark B. Webb went to be with the Lord he loved and served.
Harold was born in Wheeling, West Virginia. He spent his childhood at Metalton, West Virginia with his parents, Gladys Viola Runyon Webb and Lloyd Robert Webb who welcomed him home. He also will be greeted by his sister, Ruth Ann Webb who died in infancy and his step-mother, Genieve Piecowski Smith Webb.
Harold attended the Metalton grade school and then he continued his education at Trap Hill High School, where he graduated in 1955.
His next educational efforts were at Beckley College where he obtained and Associates of Art in social studies. In 1959, his final degree was earned at Morris Harvey College, Charleston, WV where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies.
He then entered the United States Army, where he served from 1962 to 1964. He was discharged with the rank of E-4, MOS Military Police.
On December 24, 1967, he married the love of his life, Gloria. They celebrated their 46th anniversary this year.
From 1968 to 1988, Harold worked for the West Virginia Department of Social Services in Beckley, also during this time, he was a member of the US Army Reserves where he served as the dining facility manager.
After retiring from the West Virginia Department of Social Services in December 1988, he moved his family to Virginia where he accepted a position at the Lynchburg Department of Social Services. He left social services in 1992 and was then employed by Centra Health in Lynchburg as a safety security officer. He held that position until his retirement in 2009.
Harold has been a faithful member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, a devoted husband, father, uncle and friend. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by numerous relatives, loved ones and friends and his cat, Thomas.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Barrett and the Rev. David Heerspink officiating.
