Hershel Von Fortney

Born in Fairmont, WV on August 26, 1937, he was the son of the late Hershel Fortney and Jean Trent. He was a retired security guard at Centra Health, an Army Reserve Veteran, and a member of Forest Masonic Lodge and Lynchburg Scottish Rites.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Von Jones.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Debra Jones and her husband Barry of Spout Spring, Bonnie Lipscomb and her husband Art and Kathy Jones and her husband Jerry both of Forest; a brother, Mark Trent and his wife Diane of Falls Church; six grandchildren, Christopher Jones and his wife Lohryn, Brandon Jones and his wife Anneliese, Matthew Lipscomb and his wife Meghan, Michael Lipscomb and his wife Nicole, Brandi Jones and Brian Jones; eight great-grandchildren, Sydnie Jones, Eli Jones, Cole Jones, Harper Jones, Roman Lipscomb, Isla Lipscomb, Leila Lipscomb, and Theodore Lipscomb.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, December 3, 2021, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Bill Burleigh officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
