

Hollis Burton Roberson, 95, of Mechanicsville passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life for 66 years who passed away in 2010, Pauline Jamerson Roberson.
Born in Campbell County, he was the second of twelve children born to the late William Kyle Roberson and Mary Lerner Roberson.
At the age of 18 he left to go into the Army, joining the 24th Division. He was sent to Hawaii, where he was at the age of 20 when World War II began. He then remained in the South Pacific for three years island hopping to help free the people. While there he received three battle stars. After the war, he left the jungles of New Guinea to come back to the United States and marry the love of his life. The couple then settled in Richmond where Hollis attended electrical school. He was a proud member of I.B.E.W. Local 666, enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family until the Lord called him home.
Survivors include his son and best friend, Elton Brent Roberson; a sister, Nita Mason and her husband, Bobby; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.
