Born February 8, 1948 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Edward Kidd, Jr., and Grace Dickerson Kidd. She was a self-employed nursing home hair dresser for 50 years, and a member of Timberlake Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Shelly Gregg and husband Jimmy of Bedford; Todd Keyes, and Barry Keyes, of Lynchburg. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Holley Velek (Philip), Megan Chen (David), Cameron Gregg, Hannah-Grace Keyes, and three great grandchildren, Talitha, Lucy, and Charlotte Velek. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Mike Kidd (Tonya), and their children and grandchildren. She has two bonus grandchildren, Bryson Witt, and Jordan Arrington. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Jackie left an impression on all that knew her. She would give the shirt off her back to any in need. She cared deeply for the residents at all the nursing facilities she worked at, always putting their rights at the top of the list. She was never a wall-flower, recently described as a "spitfire" by someone she worked with. She had the gift of making others feel better about themselves by giving the best hairdos. They all loved beauty shop day, and they loved her. Those who worked with her in the beauty shops also have many fun memories of the antics of the residents. What happened in the beauty shop stayed in the beauty shop!!
She loved her family fiercely and would stand up for any of them she felt needed protection.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved her, but her family and friends are rejoicing that she is with Jesus, she is healed, and pain free!
A service to celebrate her life will be conducted by Pastor Larry Brodie and John Stephens at 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with visitation prior, beginning at 12:00. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that you consider contributing towards her burial expenses.
