She was born in Lynchburg on October 22, 1945, daughter of the late Charlie A. Bowen and the late Effie S. Bowen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earsel Workman as well as three brothers and a sister.
Janet was a member of Yellow Branch Baptist Church. She loved to read and enjoyed listening to country music but her greatest passion was her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Tracy A. Workman and wife Nancy, Dana R. Workman, Becky Witt and husband Kenny and Carol W. Hensley and husband Durwood; a sister, Carol Rafferty; seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Campbell County Rescue Squad and the two officers from Campbell County Sheriff’s office who offered emergency support to Janet prior to her passing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Timothy Wilde officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, 185 Greendale Drive, Rustburg, VA 24588.
