Born on February 5, 1942, in Lynchburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Garrison and Sallie H. Garrison.
Jewell was a strong, independent woman who lived life on her own terms. She attended E.C. Glass High School and went on to dedicate 38 years of service to ITW Paktron, retiring in 2007. Even in retirement, she remained active, taking on part-time cleaning work—something she truly enjoyed—especially her time spent cleaning Lynchburg Honda for Billy Craft.
She was known for her hardworking nature and her determination to never owe anyone. Jewell took great pride in paying her own way and never wanted to be a burden to others. She was honest and straightforward, never pretending to be anything other than who she was. Her strength and independence were matched by her deep care for those around her. She lovingly looked after several older family members, including her aunt Odel and uncle Otto, showing a compassionate and selfless side to all who knew her.
Above all, Jewell was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a good and loving mother to her two sons and cherished her family deeply. After retirement, she found great joy in traveling on bus trips with Abbott Trailways and Cavalier Tours, exploring many places and making lasting memories along the way. She also had a sweet tooth and especially loved banana pudding, which was her favorite treat.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 54 years, Donnie K. Price; her two sons, Robert “Bobby” Rowland and wife Tammy, and David Rowland and wife Robin; her grandchildren, Angela Ackerman and husband Steven, Jarrett Rowland and wife Danielle, and Brett Mann; her seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Sydni, Hudson, Maddox, Knox, Boone, and Jett; and a special cousin, Iris Powers.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Snowden officiating.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Missy and Pam with Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided to Jewell during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
