Obituary of Judy Overstreet Goad
Judy Overstreet Goad, age 74, a beloved resident of Evington, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Judy was born on January 16, 1950, in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Owen L. Overstreet and the late Ollie Bell Overstreet. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Patricia. For 25 years, Judy poured her heart into her work at the Central Virginia Training Center, retiring at 60 to embrace life's simple pleasures. She adored the beach, camping trips, and fishing adventures, finding solace in nature's embrace. Her green thumb was legendary, spending countless hours in her flower beds, nurturing beauty. A true sports fan, Judy's weekends were filled with NASCAR races and football games, cheering on her favorites with enthusiasm. She was a craft wizard, creating treasures with her hands and whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen. Monday night bingo at the American Legion was her jam, where she found joy in the game and the company of friends. Judy cherished her fur baby Blaze for nine wonderful years. Alongside her work at the Central Virginia Training Center, she was a caring caregiver to Ms. B and her son Jake. Through this, she became close pals with Ms. B's daughter Wanda and her husband Jeff, adding even more joy to her life. Above all, Judy treasured her daughter, Christy, beyond measure. Their bond was unbreakable, a beacon of love and support. Judy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her warmth, creativity, and zest for life will be fondly remembered. Judy is survived by her daughter, Christy L. Goad (Steve Pauley), three siblings; Larry Overstreet (Bonnie), Ellen Heck, Darlene Witt (Bill), two cousins; Leanna Clark and Roberta Little. She is also survived by her numerous friends including her special friends; Margaret and Robert Pentecost, Wanda Vaughan (Jeff), and Judy 2. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00 am- 11:45 am at Whitten Timberlake Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 12:00 pm with Reverend Tim Wilde officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to the American Legion Post 16, 1301 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
