June Lee Harris Vest

Born June 21, 1936, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Harris, Sr. and Shirley Broyles Harris.

Mrs. Vest was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Vest is preceded in death by one brother, John T. Harris, Jr. (Hobo).

Mrs. Vest is survived by four children, Shirley Harris and her husband Wayne of Madison Heights, Peggie Dixon and her husband Howard also of Madison Heights, Melody Gunter and her husband Chris of Buckingham and Patrick Vest and his wife Kim of Camden, SC; one brother, Bill “Pete” Harris of Altavista; one sister, Barbara Faauaa of Front Royal; eleven grandchildren, Ricky Harris, Dennis Goodman, Kelly Hodge, Jason Goodman, Keri Sage, Chad Keesee, Cirstin Vest, Jeremy Vest, Sarah Vest, Kara Thornsbury and Eric Thornsbury; eleven great-grandchildren; and best friend, Jane Robertson.

The family would also like to express special thanks to the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center Staff, Dr. Cecilia MacCallum and Tina Thomas for their care towards Mrs. Vest.

A funeral service will be conducted, 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011, with the Rev. Howard Rosen, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
