

Born in Campbell County, February 27, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Glover and Carrie Wilkerson Coleman. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Fairview Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was the most important thing to her and what she always considered her greatest achievement.
Four brothers, Linwood Coleman, Wilmer Coleman, Lyle Coleman and Gordon Coleman and four sisters, Josephine King, Betty Reynolds, her twin, Madeline Laughlin and Mabel McAlister preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Joan T Moser and her husband David and Judy T. McDarris all of Lynchburg; one son, Michael R. Thompson and his wife Sandy of Norfolk; one brother, Calvin Lewis Coleman of Lynchburg and five grandchildren, Allison Moser, Jenna McDarris, Jesse McDarris, Amanda Thompson and Meredith Thompson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the New Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of both the Summit health and rehabilitation department and Centra Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Mrs. Thompson.
