Born on February 25, 1944, in Washington, D.C., Kenneth lived a life full of service, love, and devotion to his family and community.
A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Kenneth served during the Vietnam War, demonstrating the same dedication to his country that he later showed in his civilian career. After his military service, he joined the Fairfax Fire Department, where he dedicated 30 years to protecting and serving the community before retiring. His selflessness and bravery were hallmarks of his long career.
Kenneth was a man of many talents. A skilled and passionate woodworker, he took great pride in building and creating, including constructing his own home. Whether it was fixing something broken or building something from scratch, Kenneth was known as a "jack of all trades." He was also an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting and spending time in nature. Above all, he was a humble and kind soul who loved the Lord with all his heart. His unwavering faith and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Candace Hunsberger; his children, Christopher Hunsberger (Barbara), Kathy Balensiefen (Mike), and David Shane Hunsberger; one brother, Tommy Hunsberger (Susan); and twelve grandchildren: Toraysha Bland Gillisjans, Tashianna Karacabey, Tenise Patterson, Damien Brooks, Tamar Hunsberger, Christopher Hunsberger Jr., Michael Bay, Phillip Balensiefen, Patricia Balensiefen, Jeremy Hunsberger, Jameison Hunsberger, and Justice Hunsberger. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Aiden Gillisjans, Aria Gillisjans, Valeria Patterson, and Easton Gillisjans.
Kenneth's legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.
