

Born in Lynchburg, August 29, 1947, he was a son of the late Cecil David “Jack” Wood, Sr. and Geraldine Frances Wood. Pete was a sheet metal foreman with Moore’s Electrical and Mechanical. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan with a great affection for UVA sports, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will best be remembered by all who knew him by the unconditional love and friendship he shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lois D. “Janie” Burks.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gloria D. Wood; two daughters, Teresa W. Hodnett and her husband Terry of Madison Heights and Robin A. Wood of Lynchburg; one son, Kenneth W. Wood, Jr. and his wife Heather of Forest; one brother, Cecil D. “Jimmy” Wood, Jr. of Evington; his mother in law, Christine C. Dolinger and seven grandchildren, Daniel J. Epperly, Nathan R. Hodnett, Noah W. Hodnett, Allison S.C. Walker, Zachary D. Wood, Landon N. Wood and Colston K. Wood. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at the funeral home.
