Born in Lynchburg, he is the son of the late Joseph Beverly Shaw and the late Lucille Jones Shaw Barrett.
Lawrence was a retired supervisor for the C.B. Cone Garment Co.
He is survived by his companion, Shirley Collier of Lynchburg; five children, Dennis R. Shaw and his wife, Ann Paige, of Lynchburg, Gary N. Shaw of Amherst, Rita S. Chatman of Madison Heights, Teresa C. Lavinder and her husband, David, of Lynchburg and Eddie Shaw of Roanoke; one brother, Eugene Shaw and his wife, Alieen, of Corpus Christi, TX and ten grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Reverend Marvin Suitt officiating. The family will receive friends after the service until 8:30 p.m.
