Obituary of Linda Norberg Collins
Linda N. Collins, 77, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, after a short stay in the care of hospice at the Guggenheimer Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Emory Malvin Collins. Born July 2, 1940, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Erick Norberg, Jr. and the late Madeline McLane Norberg. Linda was a teller for Central Fidelity Bank for many years and a member of Amelon United Methodist Church. She was a 1957 graduate of Madison Heights High School. Linda was a tough woman who endured through many trials in her life, yet she persevered. Now her work is done, and she is receiving her reward in Heaven. In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Louise Norberg and her special little teacup poodle, Andy. Linda dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandsons. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Marks Karnes of Forest; her son, Danny Rae Marks and his wife Angela of Goode; five grandchildren, Jessica Karnes Fisher, Trevor Karnes, Kaitlyn Marks, Madelyn Marks and Dylan Marks; two great grandsons, Coleson Fisher and Colin Fisher; two sisters, Phyllis Norberg Burnley and her husband Robert of Monroe and Peggy Norberg Thompson and her husband Bob of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Leonard Erick Norberg, III and his wife Mary Ellen of Lynchburg and Jerry Wayne Norberg and his wife Vickie of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. According to her wishes, a private graveside service will be conducted. It will be officiated by Chaplain Jim Whitaker. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centra Hospice or the Lynchburg Humane Society. Kelly and Danny would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Pletke and the wonderful nurses and aides that took compassionate care of mom in her last days.
