
Lucille Marie Hardy, 101, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Heritage Green Daybreak in Lynchburg. She was the wife of her first late husband, Joseph C. Phillips and her second late husband, C.J. “Jud” Hardy. Born July 19, 1913, in Henrietta, OK, she was the only daughter of the late George M. Reed and the late Marie Ridpath Reed.
Lucille was a retired teacher from the La Porte Independent School District in La Porte, TX, where she taught for 25 years. Lucille and Joe were charter members of Bayshore Baptist Church in La Porte, TX. After she retired from teaching and remarried, she moved to Orlando, FL where she was active in the First Baptist Church. After the death of Mr. Hardy, she relocated to Lynchburg, VA in 2001. Lucille was the last of her generation and a loving mother, faithful friend and dedicated Christian.
She was preceded in death by one son, Duane Joe Phillips in 1949. She is survived by three sons Daniel Philllips and his wife Dale of Altavista, VA, Donald Phillips and his wife Carol Lee of Marble Falls, TX, David C. Phillips and his wife Deanne of Buda, TX; one daughter, D’Anne Phillips of Wildwood, FL, eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted, 11 a.m., Thursday , November 20, 2014, at South Park Cemetery in Pearland Texas with Dr. Mark Redd officiating.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Heritage Green and Seven Hill Hospice for their loving care to Lucille.
