

Born in Callands, she was the daughter of the late Roy Perkins Boaze and the late Nora Jackson Boaze. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy (Ted) Boaze and Garland Boaze and three sisters, Janie McHaney, Lucy Payne and Annie May Ayers.
Lula was a member of Southview United Methodist Church and she cared for children for family and friends in her home for many years. She loved to paint, plant flowers and make crafts.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy T. Fulcher and her husband, George, of Evington; one son, Raymond Arthur Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Farmville; five grandchildren, Gary Thomas, Trina Smith and her husband, Mike, Tracy Thomas, Kristin Gray and her husband, Brad, Karen Archer and her husband, Jim; seven great grandchildren, Dustin Thomas, Laramie Thomas, Eric, Erin and Evan Smith and Jacob and Christian Gray; two sisters, Mary B. Crist and Birdie B. Settle; two sisters-in-law, Hallie Thomas and Frances Thomas and a devoted daughter-in-law, Sandra Thomas.
The family extends a special “Thank You” to all of her compassionate caregivers, past and present, who were associated with The Summit, during her six year residence.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Centra Foundation Annual Fund, 1920 Atherholt Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
