Marie Armstrong Zimmerman, 72, 3294 Orrix Creek Rd., Bedford; passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in Roanoke, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Edward Duval. Survivors include her daughter, Valerie Michelle (missy) Duval McGee; her son, Mark E. Downey; two brother, Johnny Armstrong and Steve Doss; as well as a granddaughter, Megan Downey West; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Rd., Lynchburg, VA, 24502 at 1 pm, Saturday, September 3, 2016, with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
