Mary Bowyer Hodnett

Born in Bedford County, December 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Douglas Bowyer and Mary Newman Bowyer. She was retired from G.E/Ericsson and was a longtime member of Nicopolis United Methodist Church. Mary was known for being a wonderful cook. Mary’s love for family and friends was unconditional, and her family was the cornerstones of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Coleman Hodnett; two brothers, Richard Bowyer and Lewis Bowyer and one sister, Emma Davis and her daughter-in-law, Cyndi Hodnett.

She is survived by her son, Bennett C. Hodnett, Jr., her granddaughter, Payton Renee Hodnett; one brother, Gordon Bowyer (Chloe Ann); three sisters, Rachel Beeler, Judy Mitchell and Jean Foley; her nephew, George Hodnett and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She also had two very special friends, Kim Scott and Carolyn Perdieu.

A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Nicopolis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
