

Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Bone Kobert, 82, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Avante Skilled Nursing Facility, Lynchburg, Va. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary Lou was born on October 13, 1934, in White Plains, New York, daughter of the late Ruth Merriman Bone Clark and her husband, Donald E. Clark. She was also the daughter of the late David Alexander Drennan Bone. She met and married the love of her life, Richard A. Kobert, Jr., in Oriskany, New York, while he was stationed at Griffis Air Force Base, and was a loving, devoted and steadfast partner and provider for him and their four children throughout all their military assignments in the United States and Europe, and after his retirement from the Air Force in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1970.
Mary Lou was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and an Elder, but her true love was her 40 years singing with the choir. She was also a loyal member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Kobert, Jr.; one stepbrother, Capt. Donald E. Clark, Jr.; and one daughter, Katherine R. Kobert.
Mary Lou is survived by one daughter, Kimberly K. Hannell and her husband, Frank of Huddleston; two sons, Stephen S. Kobert and his wife, Jean E. Wood-Kobert of Culpeper and Richard A. Kobert, III of Culpeper; eight grandchildren, Jessica Wheeler, Jonathan Allen, Jennifer Allen, Abigail Hannell, Erika Hannell, Ruth Kobert, Katie Kobert, and Christy Kobert; four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters, Betty Oliver and her husband, David of Lynchburg and Katherine Strong of Forest; one brother, Roger Bone and his wife, Carrie of Oriskany, N.Y.; and two stepsisters, Loretta H. Berie of New Hartford, N.Y. and Vivian C. Red and her husband, Ted of Indiantown, Fla.
A memorial service for Mary Lou will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Rick Barton officiating. A reception will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the Memorial Service. Interment at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg will be private.
