Mary James Wells, born in Waynesville, NC on October 15, 1947, peacefully passed away in Lynchburg, Virginia on February 10, 2024. She was the cherished daughter of Dave James and Lura Jane Ashby James.
Mary was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Frank James. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home, where her passion for crochet and cooking shone brightly. Mary was not only an accomplished cook but also an expert at preparing any meal, making each dining experience a memorable one. Her culinary skills were especially honed while working on the farm, a place she held dear to her heart.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Frank James, stepdaughter Rita Goings, and grandchildren Mary Tapp and Ashley Goings. She also leaves behind her sister, Lura James, and her brother, John James. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Lura Jane James, and her daughter, Lura Jeanette Wells.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Elon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2290 Cedar Gate Rd, Madison Heights, VA, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 3 pm, with Pastor Barry Tucker officiating. The family is being assisted by Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
Mary will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
