Obituary of Melvin "Billy" Allen Putt Sr.
Melvin “Billy” Allen Putt Senior was lead into the promise land with his savior on February 9th, 2019. He was born on August 14th, 1927 and led to glory at the age of ninety one. He was preceded in death by and was the loving husband of the late Zelda Mae Johns, grandfather to Jami Putt and brother Jimmy Putt. He is also the son of the late Harry and Mazie Putt. Melvin (Billy) was a hardworking family man who worked for CSX for forty five years as a railroad track inspector and welder. If anybody were to know Melvin (Billy) for more than a few minutes, they would know that he is a man of God without doubt. He was a faithful member of Sedalia Baptist Church for over forty six years. He sung in the choir and built on the grounds of the church to help expand it. He was a member of the Big Island Lions Club, Garden Club and Brotherhood group, but most of all Billy was known for being the most excited church greeter there ever was. He loved to see all the church members faces and greet them as they came through the doors. He told everybody that he came in contact with how much he and the lord loved them. Along with being a God fearing man, Billy was also a wonderful father and brother. He has one sister Della Humphreys. He has a total of seven children. He has four sons; Robert and his wife Vicky, Melvin and his wife Julie, Tim and his wife Kathy and Danny and his wife Teresa. He also had three daughters; Joy and her husband Ted, Debra and her husband Joe and Betty Sue and her husband Dean. Billy was also a well loved grandfather and great grandfather. He has thirteen grandchildren; Heather, Matt, Ashley, Chelsey, Lindsey, Brandon, Amanda, Jon, Cammie, Daniel, Cameron, Hannah and Samantha. He has twelve great grandchildren; Tyler, Tristan, Jordan, Noah, Zoe, J.D., Bentley, Brady, Alayna, Gracie, Emily and Jamie. In his final years in his earthly home, he had the pleasure of getting to know three wonderful ladies and caretakers who were Tina Burks, Kim Fitzgerald and Carolyn Brown. He loved them just as much as he loved everybody he met. The family of Melvin (Billy Putt) wants to give a special thank you to these caregivers as well as the deacons of his church and close friends. They are Charlie Reynolds, Mike King and Bill Ousley. The family of Melvin (Billy) would also like to recognize two very special men in his life. Donnie Reaves and Russell Davis were two men in his life that he thought of like brothers. Melvin (Billy) will be dearly missed as he leaves his earthly home, but as he leaves us he takes his savior by one hand and his beloved wife “Babe” by the other as they lead him through the pearly gates down the street of gold. Oh yes, what a wonderful day it was to be. The life of Melvin “Billy” Allen Putt will be celebrated at Sedalia Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 4 pm where his family and close friends will lay his body to rest and rejoice for the new eternal life. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 3 pm.
