Paul Wendell Smith

Born March 24, 1941 in Mingo County, West Virginia he was the son of the late Frank and Bertha Ledson Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Smith, Jr.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Mildred. Also left behind is his daughter, Paula and her husband, Mark. Also his son Lance and wife, Suzie. Also Lance and Suzie’s children- Meredith, Hunter, Benjamin, and John Paul- the newest addition to the family. Paul is also survived by his four sisters, Jean Newsome, Joy Canterbury, Barbara Sturgill, and Leona Bailey, as well as many other dear family members and friends.

Paul has gone onto his eternal reward and would want everyone reading this to understand what it means to be a child of God. He spent his life telling everyone about how God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to save us from our sins. There is only one way to get to Heaven and that is by accepting this gift of love. Paul would tell you, if he could, that he wants you to join him there one day.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at Thomas Road Baptist Church (Pate Chapel) at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
