

Born in Saltville, VA, December 10, 1941, he was a son of the late Marion Clyde Cannon and Francis Henderson Cannon. Bob served honorably in the US Army during Vietnam. He was retired from the Lynchburg Police Department after 35 years of service. He was a loyal member of Fraternal Order of Police, John Lynch Lodge # 34. He was a member of the Fire on the Mountain Car Club and loved showing off his 1971 Chevelle SS, and Bob was also an avid sports fan, especially NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two special nieces, Elizabeth Camden and husband Michael and their children Spencer Camden and Mia Camden and Melissa Kincer and husband Johnny and their son Tanner and two sisters-in-law, Sara DeLorge and husband Mike and Barbara Branson and husband Jim.
A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Chaplin Christine Payton-Tavern officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m.
