

Born in Lynchburg, November 11, 1922, he was a son of the late John James Johnson and Blanche Wilson Johnson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Wayne Johnson, one granddaughter, Jamie Leigh Johnson and one brother, CPL James Lee Johnson.
He is survived by three children, David Lynn Johnson and his wife Janet of Lynchburg, The Rev. Elmer Snead Johnson and his wife Terry of Uniontown, OH and Linda J. Norris of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Phillip Adam Johnson, Christiana Marie Johnson, Mary Helen Norris and W. Joseph Norris, III.
Rev. Johnson was the Minister of Perkins Park Christian Church for 31 ½ years and after his retirement he attended Thomas Road Baptist Church. He was very active in serving the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the local, district and state levels for many years.
He was also the retired Executive Vice President of Consumers/Dornin-Adams, Inc. after 39 years of service.
He was also a member of the Marshall Lodge No. 39, AF & AM, where he was a 60 year pin recipient, Thomas J. Traylor Lodge, No. 348, AF & AM; Lynchburg Chapter No. 10, Royal Arch Mason and was a 60 year pin recipient and a past High Priest; Demolay Commandery No. 4 Knights Templar where he was a 60 year pin recipient, Past Em. Commander, Past District Deputy Grand Commandery of Virginia, Past District Instructor, Past Grand Captain of the Guard – Grand Commandery and received the Knights Templar Cross of Honor; He was also a member of the Lynchburg Scottish Rite; Lynchburg Chapter. 54 Order of the Eastern Star and was a 60 year pin recipient and Past Patron; James River Council No. 79 Allied Masonic Degrees – Founding Member and Past Master.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton and Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
A Masonic service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel afterwhich the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of his daughter Linda.
