Ruth Elizabeth Wilcher

Born on June 17, 1952, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Barnett. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Carter and Carol Dennis.

She enjoyed long walks in the woods and trails near her home. Her love for the natural world was matched only by her love for her family. Ruth and her beloved husband, Dale, were married for 54 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. They were inseparable partners, finding joy in doing life together.

As a mother, Ruth was devoted and selfless, always putting her children first and they were the center of her world. Ruth’s love extended further as she became a proud grandmother to three cherished grandkids: Aubrey Jackson, Peyton Jackson and Riley Wilcher. She was known for her infectious smile that could light up any room. Her positive energy, generosity, and boundless love for her family will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Dale R. Wilcher; her children, Gretchen Jackson (JW Caroll) and Rob Wilcher, Jr. (Ali); her three grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Barnett, Jr.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel officiated by Pastor Dr. David Turner. Interment will immediately follow the service at Virginia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
