Born in Lynchburg, June 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Parker and Kassie Thurman Parker.
Shirley was a member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church. One of her favorite things to do was spending time in her flower garden. She was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her son, Steve Apperson; sister-in-law, Andy Gomo and her husband Mike and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
