

Born August 3, 1936 in Charlotte County, he was the son of the late Otha Everett and Nellie Mae Dority Harris and was also preceded in death by a son, Otis Houston “Bones” Harris; a sister, Joyce Harris Covington and three brothers, Bobby Lee Harris, Eddie Harris, and Buck Harris. He was a retired mechanic with the Farm Service.
Mr. Harris is survived by two sons, William Anthony Harris (Tammy) of Heartsville, SC and Curtis Wayne Harris (Shirley) of Madison Heights; three daughters, Sylvia H. Clay (Jimmy) of Rustburg, Frances H. Summerlin (Timothy) of Sanford, NC, and Teresa Savage (Roger) of Lynchburg; one sister, Shirley Waller of Brookneal; one brother, Otha Harris, Jr. (Judy) of Appomattox; nine grandchildren, Heather Howard (Terry), Naomi Jackson, Britney Clay, Michelle Star Harris, Tiffany Clay, Brittany Harris, Holly Summerlin, Heidi Summerlin, and Dustin Clay; five great-grandchildren and close friends, Laverne Harris and Wayne Lovelace of Brookneal and Alexis Stone of Sanford, NC.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Sam Smith, Minister officiating.. Interment will follow at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery in Rustburg.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the funeral home and other times at 4574 Sugar Hill Road, Brookneal.
