

He was born on April 3, 1947, in Lynchburg, a son of the late Collins and Charlie Wise. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a small business owner having retired in 2009. Bill was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He was an active volunteer with the American Legion Post 16 and the Vietnam Veterans Association. He was a great dad and granddad. He was preceded in death by his brother, Emory Wise.
Bill is survived by his wife Linda Wise, and loving friend, Michelle Ramsey, his daughter, Melanie Houston; his two sons: Travis and Troy Wise; his four grandchildren: Christopher Ryan Glaize, Madison Landace Crouch, Jayden and Jourden Houston; his siblings: Jean Dillard, Jewell Davis, Charles Wise Jr., Darlene Pitts, and Penny Bryant, his special friend Haden Laughlin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11:00 am at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Robert Cardwell, 10th District Commander, and Rev. Monty Fox officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 3, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
