Dorothy P. Joy

Born September 23, 1918 in the Town of Ridgeway, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Edith (Eckler) Prest. She lived most of her life in the Town of Ridgeway, growing up on Oak Orchard on the Ridge. She married Homer Joy on June 12, 1937.

Dorothy worked for 15 years at the Orleans County Nursing Home, where she worked as a nurse’s aid. She loved to bowl on leagues and received many awards. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her Son: Ronald Joy of Lyndonville.

Daughter: Ann (Robert) Harrold of Lyndonville.

Four Grandchildren: Annette Wachowski of West Seneca, NY Mark (Georgette) Helsdon of Middleport, Julie (Christopher) McAdoo of Lyndonville and Mary Kage of Lyndonville.

9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren.

2 Sisters: Irene Rouse of Albion, and Betty Valentine of Fancher

Sister-in-law: Grace Bayne of Lyndonville

Several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Homer on October 25, 1998.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery. Arrangements were made through the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 112 N. Main St, Lyndonville, NY 14098
