Billy Gene Malone "came in like a firecracker" July 4, 1927, and left us.." my fuse is going out", December 12, 2015. He was so ready to meet Jesus and see his wife of 47 years Joyce Nell who preceded him in 1993; and his son, Mark Steven who preceded him 2002. Born in Frost, TX to Delma D. Malone and Bessie Mae Harrington, after completing Hillsboro High School he voluntarily signed up with a friend on October 1, 1945 to join the Army Air Corps. Billy was sent to Amarillo Army Air Base for training where he trained to be Airplane and Engine Mechanic 747. But since the war was over, he was sent to Biloxi, Mississippi, where he was over the maintenance of the officer's gymnasium. He was
honorably discharged April 29, 1946 where he received a WWII Victory medal. This same day, he enlisted in the Enlisted Reserve Corps for the next nine years. He was called up to the Korean War but was released because he had two children. Bill, as he preferred, did not want the life of farming so he moved to Dallas and lived with his grandmother or "Granny" as she was known through the years. There he married Joyce on October 26, 1946. His first job there was delivering milk on a horse and buggy; and he worked for garages as a mechanic until he joined the Dallas Fire Department October 1, 1050. Bill and Joyce raised their kids in Mesquite, TX while he worked at the DFD and also opened a garage where he was the most honest mechanic you would ever know. He hated to take advantage of anybody!! After 27 years with the DFD he retired and worked his business. When he could, he would take off and go fishing with his buddies. Eventually, after completely retiring from work, he fulfilled his lifelong dream and moved to Cedar Creek Lake. Next to his love of fishing was traveling. As a family on limited income, we started out in tents, and then advanced to small house trailer, and then finally to motor homes. There are many wonderful memories from all those family vacations.
Bill was also preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his son Steve and brother Jacky.
