

Diane was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 21, 2025. Diane was born February 22, 1941, in Seattle, Washington to Mae Natalie and Paul Eli Cross. Beginning at the age of six she was raised by her loving father Joe Eldon Cox.
Diane moved to Texas when she was a little girl and lived in many different Texas cities. It was in Odessa Texas at Odessa High School English class that she met her high school sweetheart, James Whiteside. They married June 14, 1959. They had two daughters Cheri’ and Cheryl. Diane also had many fur babies throughout her life.
Diane had numerous careers including secretary, manager, she owned a day care business and ceramic shop. In her later years (age 52) she went back to college and completed her RN degree. She worked for several facilities as an RN and retired in 2003 as the Director of Nursing at a local nursing home.
Diane loved her crafting activities and became proficient in sewing, crocheting and painting. She was a member of the Hilltop Lakes Lions Club and loved to play Wednesday night Lions Club Bingo. Diane was strong in her faith and was a member of Marquez Methodist Church.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter Cheri’ Newton and two of her three brothers, Eldon Ray Cox and Michael Dennis Cox.
She is survived by her husband James Whiteside of Hilltop Lakes Texas, daughter Cheryl Shipman and husband Barry of Hilltop Lakes Texas. Son-in-Law Tad Newton and spouse Debbie of Heath Texas. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Chrissy Newton of Fort Worth, Misty Hauser and husband Tre of Tomball, Texas, Tricia Atchison and husband Kyle of Sugar Land, Texas, Ashley Moyes and husband Clint of Azel, Texas and AJ Shipman of Houston Texas. She has five great-grandchildren Ashlyn Eggleton, Dalton Thomas, Ashton Hauser, Judson (Juddy) Eggleton and Greyson Moyes. One brother Randy Cox and wife Lori of Tool Texas, Two sister-in-law’s Gwen Cox of Saucier Mississippi, and Haven Cox of Kaufman Texas. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces as well as many other wonderful family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Tool Cemetery.
