Freda lived a full and eventful life. Her parents were traveling across the country in a covered wagon for work when she was born. She was academically gifted and was advanced a grade in school in 6th grade. At the time of her marriage in 1938 she was attending beauty school in Lubbock, Texas and began her career as a beauty operator. During WWII she, Junior and her parents traveled to Washington State and worked in the ship yards. The family moved to Irving, Texas in 1949 where she and Junior purchased a small grocery store/home from her father in Irving on Hwy. 183 and County Line Rd. When the property sold they moved into the city Proper and purchased a home on E. St. Clair. In 1957, they built a home on Ronne Dr. where she built her own beauty shop, Freda’s Hair Fashions, which she owned and operated unit her retirement in 1969. After retirement she and Junior eventually settled on Cedar Creek Lake where she vowed to play Bridge every day and Junior vowed to play golf and drink whiskey. They achieved those goals and had many happy years there before Junior passed in 1989. She later remarried and traveled extensively with Morris Kenney settling in California for a time. She was an avid Bridge player and treasured a 1st Place Duplicate Bridge trophy she won in 1990. She loved her Chihuahuas! She loved her family and the love was returned.
We appreciate the care given her by College Park Nursing and Rehab Center and Envoy Hospice in Weatherford, Texas, where she spent her last 2 years.
A graveside service with family members will be held May 7, 2019 with interment next to Junior at Payne Springs Cemetery in Payne Springs, Texas.
