

Jack was born on November 25, 1919 in Wills Point, Texas to parents John and Katherina (Damm) Lancaster and entered into rest on September 27, 2014 at the age of 94. Jack was known by several different names; “Buddy”, “Papaw Jack”, Grandpaw and “Pop” by his family. He held his family close to his heart; they were everything to him. Jack enjoyed being outdoors, boating, camping and sleeping under the stars and maintaining his “green” lawn. He was an extremely good poker player. Jack loved sports; his favorite teams were the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Longhorns. He served in The United States Army and was on Omaha Beach in the Normandy invasion. Jack, along withfour of his brothers, fought in World War II and they all came home safely. He operated a service station for over 25 years in West Dallas, where he turned a failing business around by treating people fairly. He was a charter member of Harbor Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for over 20 years. Jack, along with his wife Mary, volunteered his time at the Mabank area food pantry, giving his time to help others. Some of his favorite things were Snickers, convertible Mercurys, watching Westerns and professional bull riding, and Maggie the dog. Jack was a good Christian man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Jack was 94 at the time of his death and was preceded by his parents, his loving wife of 65 years Mary Ellen, daughter Debra Lois Lancaster, along with six brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his sons; Gerald Lancaster and wife Sandra of Waxahachie, David Lancaster and wife Kim of Crowley, daughters; Jo Wilson and husband Trip of Mountain Home, AR, Deidre Lancaster of Payne Springs, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
