JACK A. WOODRUM was born to William F and Lois H Woodrum April 15, 1925 on the IX Ranch at Dundee, Archer County, Texas. Siblings were R Luke Woodrum, Frances Woodrum Halger (both deceases), and Julia A Woodrum of Dallas. As the 1929 depression forced the closing of the only school in Dundee, the family decided to relocate to where schools would be available to all their children in Wichita Falls. Following graduation in 1941 from Wichita High School, awaiting age 18 I attended Hardin Jr College for two years to be inducted in the USAAF as an Aviation Cadet, graduating as a Pilot Flight Instructor in 1944 from Selma, Alabama AAB and Randolph Field, San Antonio.
Established a pilot training school at Merill Field in Alaska in 1946 in addition to flying ‘bush’ and freight from Seattle. Was re-called to service in the Korean conflict to transition pilots as an instructor for duty in Korea while assigned to Perrin AFB, Sherman.
Married Bennie England in 1952 who passed away in 2006. We had adopted two children, a son C. Luke Woodrum from German (1994 deceased) and a daughter Cindy Cotter in Gun Barrel City. Cindy had two children, Chad Anthony Easterling who died when he was two years old and Manny M Brock who lives in Mabank and has two sons, Stephen M Brock and Joshua M Brock.
Bennie and I moved to Cedar Creek from Cedar Hill in 1986 with our grandson Manny and built our home on Enchanted Isles (606) to raise our second family.
Primary occupation was real estate and development. Was an active member of the Cedar Hill Church of Christ, and attended Beacon Church of Christ locally.
Interment at Little Bethel Cemetery, Duncanville, Texas. Please direct any remembrance to your favorite charity or Cherokee Home for Children, P O Box 295, Cherokee, Texas 76832.
