Mr. James "Jim" Fellows

James Robert Fellows, 79 years old, from Mabank, Texas, passed into the tender arms of his faithful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 13, 2016, at East Texas Medical Center Athens, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on May 15, 1936, in Orange, MA, the fourth of seven children, to parents Winfred and Ruth Fellows, where he spent an extraordinarily unique childhood hunting and fishing on and around the family farm. Jim's driven work ethic began at a very young age, walking into town with his constant companion, his dog Ike, to work at the local printshop after school and on weekends. At 18 years old, Jim joined the U.S. ARMY. While stationed at Fort Benning, GA, Jim met and married the love of his life, Mittie Senn. He and Mittie moved to California, where he graduated from UCLA, enjoyed a long, fulfilling career teaching printing at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and raised his 4 children with Mittie. Upon retiring, they moved to East Texas.

Jim was so much larger than life. As a teacher, he changed the lives of countless young people. He loved taking his family on adventures camping, hunting, fishing, dirt bike riding, snow sledding, water skiing and every other activity he and Mom thought we might like. He revelled in the holidays with a childlike wonder, and contageous excitement. He was a magnificent man, the greatest husband and best friend to Mittie for nearly 60 years, a rock of a father, with the softest heart, an adoring grandfather, a loving great grandfather, a steadfast son and brother, a genuine friend, and our hero.

Jim is survived by his wife and eternal love, Mittie Fellows; his son, James (Cassandra) Fellows, II; his daughters, Theresa Fellows-Smith, Debra Fellows-Mayer, and Elizabeth Fellows; his grandchildren, Bryanna Timms, Erika Mayer, Brooke Mayer, and Faelan Fellows; his great grandchildren, Cameron Fellows, Hunter Timms, and Draven Timms; his brother, Winfred (Jean) Fellows; his sister, Sharon (Rick) Fontaine; his many nieces and nephews.
