Born on June 24, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, Jimmie was the son of the late Jimmie Clifton Ivey, Sr. and the late Imogene Shaddox Ivey.
Jimmie attended South Oak Cliff High School, and after graduating, he met the love of his life, Janie Pitts. They married and lived in Dallas for a few years, during which time Jimmie began his career as a truck driver. He was able to travel all over the country for 40-plus years and ultimately became known as “the road map” because of his vast knowledge of U.S. highways. Eventually, Jimmie and Janie settled in Mabank to raise their children. In his free time, Jimmie enjoyed yard work, baling hay, working cattle, spending time with his family, reading/studying the bible, and helping others.
Along with his wife of almost 62 years, Jimmie is survived by his children Angie Trull and husband, Tom, and Wade Ivey and wife, Nelletta; grandson Bradley Trull and wife, Raelee; granddaughter Kayce Ivey; and great-granddaughter Layken Trull. He is also survived by one sister, Sandra Hager; one brother Donnie Ivey and wife, Cecilia; as well as one aunt, Lula Ann Brown; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Delorise Ivey.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City, Texas. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
