Julia Wilma Whiteley, age 96, of Kemp, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Julia was born January 3, 1925 to parents, Bruce Davis and Elizabeth Conner. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Julia loved going to football, baseball, and basketball games with her grandchildren. She loved watching her Cowboys and Rangers; number one fan! Julia loved spending time with her family. Julia worked at Aberdeens, where she grew a bond with her co-workers and loved them like family. Christian by faith, Julia attended Church of Christ where she raised her family and formed a family within the church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bruce Davis and Elizabeth Conner; husband, James Edward Whiteley; son, James E. Whiteley; daughter, Shirley Lay; brothers, Jewel, Floyd, Weldon, Charlie, and Billy; sister, Gina; great-grandson, Tyler Lay; and granddaughters, Julia Elizabeth Lay and Vada Avant.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Rita Avant and husband Johnny of Kemp, TX.; daughter-in-law, Diane Whiteley of Kemp, TX.; grandchildren, Jeff "Bo" Ford and Debbie of Oklahoma, Jimmy Ford and Elizabeth of Oklahoma, Sheila Love and James of Kemp, TX., Stacey Yokish and Freddie of Kemp, TX., Nolan Lay and Paula of Mt. View, AR., John Todd Avant and Shirley of Kemp, TX., Jyma Whitely of Kemp, TX., James E. "Bubba" Whiteley and Kelsie of Kemp, TX.; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
