Junior Collins Thomison

Junior was born on July 23, 1926, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Clarence Wesley “Buck” Thomison and Rachel Anna Mae Davis Thomison. He was the fourth of ten children. Junior proudly served his country in the United States Army from March 1945 until October 1946.

On March 15, 1958, Junior married the love of his life, Oleta Fay Calhoun. Together they shared many loving years before her passing. Junior worked for Austin Bridge Company for many years and retired in 1988.

Junior is survived by his children: Ruthie Zoph of Kemp, Texas; Rita and spouse, David, of Malakoff, Texas; Jimmy Thomison of Collinsville, Texas; Velvet Hicks and spouse, Terry, of Mabank, Texas; Gayla Thomison and spouse, Billy, of Cartwright, Oklahoma; and Nelda Harris and spouse, Wayne, of Burneyville, Oklahoma.

Grandchildren: Rodrick Honea (wife Debbie), David Mullins, Janet Mota (husband Erich), Paula Emery (husband Daniel), Johnathan Honea (wife Jo), Jeremy Thomison, Jason Thomison, Matthew Thomison, Scott Thomison, Bobby Thomison, JR Hicks (wife Liz), Anna Arbour, Mellanie Freeman (husband Daniel), Rokzanna Haymes (husband Brent), Jennifer Hendricks, Jacob Harris (wife Stephanie), and Jimmy Hicks (wife Christy).

Junior was blessed with many Great-Grandchildren: Bridgett Uzor, Sarah Armstrong, Brandi Parker, Eric Mullins, Daniel Emery II, Autumn Emery, Dylan Williams, Elliot Mota, Ashton Mota, Raeann Mota, Skylar Thomison, Elianna, Owen Hicks, Taitlynn Arbour, Daniel Freeman, Alex Freeman, Nathan Freeman, Dakota Murphy, Sophie Haymes, DJ Harris, Jae’lyn Hendricks, Javaun Hendricks, Jay Covey, Rebeka Harris, Lili Harris, Jamie Arthur, Gary Arthur, Jenny Arthur, Benji Flores, Leti Flores, Clarissa, Cameron, Shayla, Triston, and J.D.

Great-Great-Grandchildren: Maliky Armstrong, Karter Emery, Landon Emery, Kayleigh Parker, Aiden Walker, Zion Nova, Dalyiah Harris, Deloni Harris, Drmeri Harris, Keh’loni Blevins, Clayton Covey, Alex, Leon, Ziphyr, Piper, Asher, and Braxton.

Junior was preceded in death by his wife Oleta Fay Thomison; his parents: Clarence Wesley Thomison and Rachel Anna Mae Davis Thomison; his siblings: Lois Insel, Earl Thomison, Bertha Whitfield, Ann Shannon, Jessie Thomison, Evie Odom, Leon Thomison, Imogene Brickley, and Lequetta “Billie” O’Brian; his Grand-Daughters: Dartania Mattingly and Michelle Honea; his daughter-in-law Venita Thomison; his sons-in-law James Zoph and Michael W. Arbour; and his great-grandson Michael D. Arbour.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Payne Springs Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
