

She was raised in DeKalb, TX and walked from the “red house” to the Mount Sterling school, and then attended and graduated from DeKalb schools.
Barry Charles and Lenora Faye Boughton were married on September 10, 1960. Together they made their home in the Dallas area.
Early in her life Lenora worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Michael Hospital. After graduation she moved-in with her sister Virginia and began working at a telephone company, followed by beginning her career in the insurance industry. She eventually went to work for Lenders Insurance in DeSoto, TX where she found her true calling. She worked hard and eventually became the CEO and sole owner. In 2006 after a very long and successful career she retired and moved to her lake home in Mabank, TX.
In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, playing Forty-Two, hitting the casinos, working puzzles, and spending time with her family. They traveled, danced, laughed, and spent hours on the water at the lake.
Lenora is preceded in death by her husband and parents as well as four brothers Andrew, Loy, Jarvis and Tommy Wharton; three sisters Virginia Smith, Laverne Kempe, and Shirley Son.
She is survived by son John “Phillip” Boughton and wife Kelley of Mabank, TX and daughter Cindy Kaye (Boughton) Jones and husband Kelly of New Boston, TX; one sister Jone Cates and husband Buddy of New Boston, TX; two brothers James Wharton and wife Becky of New Boston, TX, Jimmy Wharton and wife Cindy of Columbia, MO; four sisters-in-law Valerie Kugler and husband Jim of Richardson, TX, Betty Wharton of Nash, TX, Kay Wharton of New Boston, Tx. and Nina Wharton of Mt. Vernon, TX; one brother-in-law Ernie Boughton Jr. of Columbia MO. granddaughters: Chloe (Jones) Fazeli and husband Cameron of Plano, TX, Lindsay (Boughton) Rogers of Mabank, TX, Devan (Jones) Simmons and husband Cade of The Colony, TX, Bailey (Boughton) Wilson and husband Aaron of Duncanville, TX, and Dru (Boughton) Gregg and husband Vincent with the USAF; two great-grandchildren, Eli Rogers and Vivian Wilson. There are numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life for Lenora will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Eubank Cedar Creek, 601 South 3rd Street, Texas 75147. Following the celebration of life will be a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home, 601 State Hwy 198 @ Walnut, Mabank, TX 75147.
