Renee M. Webb was born in Columbia, S.C. on January 17, 1944 and expired in Gun Barrel City, TX. on August 5, 2018. She was the oldest of three children of Robert E. (Buddy) Webb Jr. and Lillian Hilliard Webb. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1961, attended Winthrop College and received her BA in Human Resource Management from Columbia College.
As a Legal Secretary, she worked for various attorneys and judges in the Columbia area and received numerous professional awards. Renee loved music and had a beautiful singing voice; she worked at Pecknel Music Company and sang professionally for over ten years with various trios and big bands. She also acted in community theater.
Being very sociable and having a great sense of humor, Renee had many friends throughout her life. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Columbia and Mount Tabor Lutheran Church in West Columbia, where she sang in the choirs and was an active participant in church activities. She also volunteered as an adult literacy coach, helping adults learn and love to read.
Renee is predeceased by her parents and is survived by her daughter, Nichole Ballington (Robert) Lupo, and granddaughter, Cora Lupo of Decatur, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Melanie R. (Yolanda Salitrero) Webb of Chapin, SC and her brother, Paul D. (Sandy Hennies) Webb of Columbia, SC, nephew, Dennis M. Graber, Grandnephew Jacob Graber and grandniece Morgan Graber of Lexington, Katie Webb (Jason) Weden of Duncan, SC, and Larry Lineburger of Gun Barrel, TX. She will be missed by other loving family members and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 827 Wildewood Avenue Columbia, SC 29203, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 3 o’clock PM with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christopher Conner Foundation (PO Box 84215, Lexington, SC 29073), an organization that provides music scholarships, financial aid and grants for musicians and their families, and partners with organizations to support healing through music, and was created to honor the life and memory of a musician that Renee loved dearly. Donations may also be made to the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMISC, PO Box 1267, Columbia, SC 29202), an organization that educates, advocates for, and supports those with mental illness and their families.
