He was preceded in death by his father Dewey Groom and Mother, Quinlan Groom, brother, Douglas Groom.
Richard is survived by his sisters Saran Groom Knight and husband Junior, and Dewetta Groom Crow and husband Shane. Nephews, Doug Groom Jr., David Groom, BJ Christie, James Crow, and Justin Crow, Nieces, Shannon Cotten, Shelby Pruitt, and Ashley Crow. Also many cousins and friends.
He lived on family land and built his own log cabin in Eustace. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t build or fabricate. He was a mechanical genius with a high school education! He worked in utility construction most of his life. And for his hobbies he kept working. And then he would go home and work on his property with his cattle and hay baling. He enjoyed staying busy.
In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Cody Cornelius Scholarship Fund @ Eustace High School to aid students not in the top 10% of their class that are going to college or a trade school.
