Ron was born on August 20, 1952, in Amsterdam the Netherlands to Hendrik Antonisse and Anna Maria VanSchaik. Because of the uncertainties in Holland following the war, Ron's parents decided to immigrate to Dallas, Texas via Edmonton Canada in 1958. Upon returning home from his service in the United States Air Force, he met his wife of 51 years, Margrit, at a Holland/American party in March 1974. Ron and Margrit knew fate brought them together and were united in marrriage on August 17 1974.
Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor. Throughout his life, he worked in many fields, reflecting his strong work ethic and versatility. He set up trade shows, drove a truck, worked as a referee, and owned and operated his own lawn and landscaping company for many years. In retirement, Ron found joy in serving as a Park Host, traveling and spending time outdoors alongside his beloved wife.
Above all, Ron was a devoted husband. He loved his wife Margrit with his whole heart and together they shared a life full of adventure, laughter, and companionship. He was a proud father to his three daughters; Elisabeth, Tanya, and Tamara, who meant the world to him. He was also a loving Opa to Landon, Sophia, and Blakley, whose warmth and humor left a lasting impression.
Rod had a character of strength that was matched by his lighthearted spirit. He loved to joke and had a smile that could light up any room. He never met a stranger. He had a deep love for the outdoors, finding peace and happiness in nature and wildlife. Ron was never one for extravagance; he appreciated the simple things in life - time with family, good conversations, and the beauty of the world around him.
Ron will be remembered as a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man who brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ron's memory to organizations that protect and preserve nature and wildlife, causes that were close to his heart.
