Ronald "Bear" Lynn Lane

March 10, 1954 – May 19, 2025

Ronald L. Lane, known as “Bear,” went to be with the Lord at his home on Cedar Creek Lake on May 19, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, to Joe H. Lane and Christine Lane.

Bear spent the early years of his life in the West Dallas Projects, where his large family lived in a one-bedroom flat and his father drove a truck to make ends meet. As a teenager, his family moved to the Kleberg/Seagoville area and settled in a tight-knit community known as “Robinwood.”

In 1981, Bear married the love of his life, Bobbi Cawley Lane. Together they built a life full of love and laughter. He was most at peace when surrounded by family or out on the open road. A lifelong truck driver, Bear was proudly known by his CB handle “Texas Flyer,” a name recognized by many along highways near and far. Bear was known for his “good lookin’ trucks” whether it was his A-model Kenworth or a square-body Chevy, they were always shinin’.

With a free spirit and a heart full of kindness, Bear spent much of his free time on his Harley Davidson and in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter throughout his adult life.

His proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren—his daughter, Brooke Lane; his son, Shane Lane; and his two beloved grandchildren, Augustus “Gus” Lane and Bradie Lane.

Bear is lovingly survived by his wife, Bobbi Lane; his children, Shane Lane and Brooke Lane; his grandchildren, Gus and Bradie Lane; and his sister, Linda Baggett. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Christine and Joe Hammond “Hamp” Lane, and his brothers, Robert Lane, Daryl Lane, Jerry Lane, and James Lane.

Bear lived a life full of heart, grit, and grace. Though he will be deeply missed, we find peace in knowing he is now whole and at rest in the presence of the Lord.
