Samuel “Sammie” Finch was born on February 18, 1938 in Nacogdoches, Texas to parents James and Willie Mae (Arriola) Molanders and entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2019 at the age of 81. Sammie graduated from Irving High School. Sammie loved to crochet and did a lot of quilting. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers and just being outdoors enjoying nature when she could. She opened her heart to many and welcomed them in, everyone called her mom. Sammie was Baptist by faith and went to Faith Bible Church in Phalba. She was also part of a Christian motorcycle club doing ministry work in numerous nursing around the lake area. Sammie was an amazing lady, who was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed immensely.
Sammie was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Willie Mae LeGrande, sons; Billy Mack Hays, Doyle Lee Hawthorne, Donald Ray Huggins and Larry Wayne Suratt, brother Jim Ed Molanders and sister Patsy Hurd.
She is survived by her son David Hawthorne of Montalba, grandchildren; Daniel Ray Hawthorne of Honolulu, HI, David Alan Hawthorne of Mesquite, Tamara Ann Suratt Tucker and husband David of Boonville, IN, Tonya Marie Suratt of Mabank and Tosha Suratt Miller and husband Bobby of Mabank, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
